Borrow by Mail
NWT Public Library Services (NWTPLS) is pleased to be able to offer
library service by way of our Borrower-By-Mail (BBM) Service to any
individual living within the NWT who does not have access to a local
community library. Each shipment sent to you will have prepaid
return-mailing label. This enables you to receive and return material at
no cost.
As a Borrower-By-Mail patron, you will receive a NWT Public Library
Services borrower's card. This will enable you to borrow material from
any NWTPLS Community Library should you happen to visit a community with
a local community library.
As a Borrower-By-Mail patron, you may request up to five titles at any one
time, with only three of the five being on the same subject. You
can request material by title, author, or subject area. If the
required material is not available within NWTPLS, we can ask for
it from another Canadian library on interlibrary loan.
Materials sent to you from NWTPLS will have varying loan periods:
- Materials from NWTPLS are loaned for six weeks
- Talking books and kits (book & audiocassette, book & video, etc.) are loaned for six weeks and will be supplied only if available within NWTPLS
- Videos are loaned for six weeks and will be supplied only
if available within NWTPLS
- Music CDs are loaned for six weeks and will be supplied only
if available within NWTPLS
- Books borrowed from outside our library system must follow the lending library's regulations
The date an item is due back at NWTPLS will be clearly indicated on the
return slip, which is sent with each item. Failure to return items in a
timely fashion may result in loss of borrowing privileges.
